7:45…no turning back now

We have a connection! Hooray! I’m sitting in my oh-so-comfortable (L.O.L) bed here in the land of Large Stabby Needles, all hooked up to the Machine That Goes Ping and cross-eyed from reams of paperwork (”Is there any chance you might be pregnant?” takes the prize as most hilarious question thus far).

Dr. R has been in to break my water, which was a singularly unpleasant experience. As he was fishing around with his harpoon, I honestly thought I might shoot out of my skin. I don’t think he was aware of his own tenuous hold on life as he knew it, as his position beside me would have been ideal had I given in to the almost overwhelming desire to launch him from the room by his genitals.

I resisted. I’m kindly that way.

At any rate, the water has left the building and we are awaiting contractions to begin in earnest.

I thought we might have some fun and start a little poll of sorts. Let’s see who can guess the baby’s weight, shall we? Some of you have read my birth stories over the past few weeks, so you know my range (anywhere from 6lbs8oz to 8lbs11oz) and I thought it might be diverting to see who comes closest. In the interest of full disclosure, I offer this picture, taken just two weeks ago:

So what say you? Post your guess in the comments and I’ll send the winner a prize of some sort. I have no idea what. Maybe the baby’s umbilical cord stump.

Okay, maybe not.

I’ll find something fun! In the event that more than one person is right on the money, I’ll employ some highly scientific method of choosing the winner. So have at it! For now, I gotta figure out how to extricate myself from these wires so I can pee. More later!

Oh YAY!
You are so fabulous to let us share. I am guessing 7lb 2oz.
I am also guessing that the baby will get here at 11:29. you didn’t ask, but that’s my guess.
Oh Happy Day!

Hooray! This is so exciting. I’m going to guess 7lbs 11 oz. And I’m going to guess a time too. 1:36p.m. Come on baby, let’s get the show on the road. (And many prayers for the mama, baby and the rest of the bunch.)

I’m claiming 7lbs 9.4oz. Because the scales today are that anal.

In case you are saving the time of birth for your next post and I’m not around, I am pre-guessing 2:24pm.

8 lbs 9 oz. And I guess you have a baby by 1:49 pm.

Praying for you today, my friend!

On the edge of my seat!!

I say 7 lbs 11 oz. Yeah, that’s good and middle-road - just like me lol

6 lbs 14 oz.
EEK! I’m so excited! :D

I was going to say 7,11, but since it is already up, I’ll go 7lb 12 oz. You look too good for an 8,10.

Wow! I can’t believe how much of a part of this I feel considering I only met you a month ago. I’ll be praying for quick and easy with no doctor flinging!

I was going to say 7.2 but that has been taken! I am a LONG time lurker on Lots of Kids and Tons of Kids and love your blog. I am going to guess 6.14! Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly. I have had 4 evictions and one without intervention. All about a similar experience!

8lbs 2oz

Hey, as I was eating my English Muffin, I was wondering what is the difference between it and a crumpet? I thought the strumpet might know.

See, wouldn’t I be the BEST kind of person to have in the labor room?!

BTW~ not that you haven’t done this before, but you ARE walking around, right? When they break my water, I walk around for a little bit (leaving a lovely snail slime trail behind behind me) and the contractions get going. Just in case you had never heard of that.

Aren’t I helpful?

oh, and don’t forget to breathe.

P.S. Hopefully you’ll be holding your little boy by then, but I have a doctor’s appt at 1p. I’ll let you know how it goes. Because, it’s ME you’re worrying about right now, right?

8 lbs 3 oz. Thanks for the updates, I wonder how many hits your blog will have before the day is done!

oh shoot, Kate, I wasn’t trying to usurp your guess of 8.2, I saw that after mine…my smallest baby so far was 8.3 hence the guess. :)

I was going to say 7lbs 9oz but Gretchen kinda sorta already did.

How about 7lbs 8oz. Or 8lbs 4 oz. How many times can we enter? :)

I’ll be thinking squishy open quick thoughts for you!

7lbs, 12oz.

oh my goodness, how exciting.

7lb 9.8 oz Hope it is a safe and pain-free delivery!!

I’ll guess 7 lbs 1 oz

I think the neatest thing about live blogging your birth, beside something fun to distract me at work today, you won’t have to sit down later and try to remember everything to write the birth story.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers today!!

8lb 6oz, just because. Glad you got a connection, so we can both hear about progress and share encouragement!

Hey Jenni! I am guessing 7 lbs 6 oz. i was going to say 7.7 but it just looks funny.

good luck and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers today. (((HUGS)))

LOL by the way, it automatically logged me in under my business name….it’s Sondra :)

You look amazing. Especially after blessing the world with so many kidlets. I look at that picture and miss those days…

I am guessing 8#2oz.

Blessings and good luck. {{hugs}}

7lbs 3oz! two of the best numbers ever invented.

Hi Jenny - praying for you today, and can’t wait to hear the wonderful news! I’m guessing 7 lb. 3 oz. Blessings…

8 lbs., 3 oz., because that’s what my Monkey was. :)

Cakes, did you know that in Russian (spelled phonetically here) “vlazhnyieh slyedt” means “moist trace”? We sang a song in high school chamber singers about a cloud coming to rest on the face of a cliff…and the poem said that the cloud left a moist trace where it stopped. My friend Jenna and I, however, knew that this term really meant snail slime.

So, Jenni, walk and leave your vlazhnyieh slyedt on the hall floors!!!

Hilarious Laura! And here I was a Russian major in college and didn’t know this. It has such a nice sound to it, doesn’t it?

7 pounds, 10 ounces. Good luck! I hope the doctor survives. If he deserves to.

I guess 7 lbs, 5 oz. You look amazing! Prayers for a peaceful labor & delivery!

My highly scientific and calculated guess is 7 pounds 14.4 ounces. Can’t wait for your next post!!

Someone else took my 7 lb 8 oz, so I’ll go with 7 lbs 8 1/2 oz. I’ll be checking back frequently!

I’m going to guess that this baby will break the record and weigh in at 9 lbs., ohpleasedon’thurtme. No reason for the guess–it’s just a nice, round number. And the birth weight of my first born. :)

Good luck! I mean disentangling yourself to pee!

I love your blog and I love the way you share your life with all of us. I’m praying for you. My guess is 7lb 7oz. God bless you, your family, and your doctor.

7lb,4oz. 20 inches.

I’m so excited for you! Continued prayers, Jenni. I can’t wait to hear of Xavier’s safe arrival into your & Jim’s arms!

holy cow. you are so tiny! how do you do it???!

k….i’m guessing 7 lb 1 oz and 21 inches long.

seriously, how’d you have 12 babies and you are so tiny!?

good luck…prayers and good wishes for you and the babe.

Found you via Rocks and I love reading your posts (not just births stories, although that’s what got me hooked!). Praying your sweetie makes a healthy appearance today.

Oh, and my guess is 7lbs 2oz.

ok TrulyBlessed here from lok, and I am going to say 6 pounds 13 ounces. Prayers for you guys today.

Good Luck Jenni! I’ll guess 7 lb 1/2 oz; since you’re ejecting baby early, I think he’ll be smaller than the ones that got to cook longer. I was going to go with 7-2, but someone else took that. I hope everything goes quickly and smoothly!

I’m going with 8 lbs 1 oz (I don’t think it’s been guessed yet).

You’re a CRAZY WOMAN for live blogging your delivery btw.

You gotta love the crazy!!

(saying a prayer for you RIGHT.NOW!!)

:)

I’m in for 7lb. 14oz.

(Of course that would be a sneeze for me since mine were 9.5 and 11 lb. but you are so tiny!)

Oh, wow you look great. I am praying for a smooth birth!! I’m going to guess 8lbs 5 oz. God bless!!

Oh Jenni, I am living vicariously through you!!! Sooo excited about your next baby.

I’m guessing a weight of a good ol’ 7lbs 9 oz. Just the weight I’d like to lose this month.

Chris in Canada

I’m going to guess 8 even…it may already have been taken though. Oh well.
Are any of your kids with you? Speaking of kids..has there been a date set for the wedding?
See, we can keep your mind off labor with all sorts of different things.
Praying for you.
Oh and I think 5:24 pm is when Xavier will arrive.

8 lbs. 6 oz. is already taken!! I conveyed this to Jenni on the phone last night..and don’t you forget it!

This is so cool…so..so..techie! Much better than just sitting at home wondering and waiting.

Loved the snail slime stuff, in Russian yet!

You know I’m praying.

I think all of my guesses have been taken. I’m going with 7pounds and 1.5ounces to be more specific.

Btw, I’m new to your blog and what a great day for it. I’m excited to read your journey. :)

Oh I ‘m so excited for you!!! I can’t wait to hear more!! (I hate the water breaking with a harpoon experience too!!) How about 7 lbs, 7 oz. (that was my birth weight and one of my daughter’s birth weight!) :-)

I’m going to guess 7 lbs. 4 oz. I hope you have as painfree a delivery as possible!

7 lbs 2 oz - hopefully very soon!

7 lb 6.5 oz.
This is pretty cool! We’re traveling a lot today but I’ll be checking in as often as I can. Praying for a smooth and [relatively speaking] easy delivery :-)

Oh, Jenni! This IS FUN (for us, I’m hoping you’re into the *not so fun* part by now, right???). Wish I could be there. It’s been a long time, but I think I might be the only one who has witnessed one of your *hospital* births?? maybe?? can’t remember for sure.

You’re definitely in my prayers today :O)

btw. my guess is 7lbs. 13oz. :OP

love ya! Can’t wait to see this little guy…

8 lbs. 1.4 oz. What a beautiful pregnant belly you have!

7lbs even is my guess.

Best wishes for a quick & easy delivery! Can’t wait to hear the news!

Ok, my first response is 8 lbs, 2 oz, but since I want to give an original guess, I change it to 8 lbs, 13 oz. Yippee!!!

6lbs 14oz. and at 12:20. I’ll be praying for you!

7lbs 3oz!

Wow, pretty cool that you’re sharing labour with us all :)

I’ll guess the weight to be: 7lbs 11oz.

Hope there is no more harpooning happening and the rest of the birth goes smoothly!

7 lbs. 5 oz and…1:34 p.m. :)

How fun! I am loving reading your 12th birth story as it unfolds! I am going to guess 7 lbs 9 oz.

I’m so excited I went and had some Tums to settle my stomach. Your baby will be 8Lbs. 3 ounces. Oh yeah and absolutely beautiful and dedicated to Jesus. SOOO GO to it gal! You know the drill.

8 lb. 4 oz … and speedy and healthy!

goodness! look at all the responses!

i’ll guess 7lbs 10oz. i’m thinking he’ll be a good size at this point.

~~ELV~~

7lbs 8oz. And 1:37PM. Even though I have no idea what time zone you’re in, so that could be in the next hour! :-)

7 pounds 7 ounces, sometime before 3 pm. You are awesome for sharing this!

I’m guessing 6lb 15.2 oz, if your hospital scales have points. If they don’t my guess is 6lb 15 oz

Oh and for multiple guesses, to be fair you’d HAVE to pick the first one! Right? Course it’s your contest, you don’t have to be fair, and after it’s over you just may not feel like being fair! lol

Wow! Congrats. I say 7 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long

I say 8 lbs an 2 oz and 21 inches long. Hang in there girl!

6lbs 5 oz 18 1/4″ but you can keep the stump. I have one of my own to discard as soon as it falls off. :)

I am guessing 7 lbs. 4 oz.

Blessings on the birth!!!

Give him a kiss from us!!!!

I guess 7 lbs. 10 oz. Congratulations!

I found your site through Rocks in My Dryer and was interested to see how live blogging labor would work!! : )

OK, can I just say that I don’t want to guess your baby’s weight — I want to guess your weight! Girl, you are SO TINY, which is just absolutely WRONG given that this is #12. I am rounder than you on any random afternoon. In fact, when I thought about the possibility of 12 babies coming from this body ever, I gained three pounds right then.

Sigh.

Mother Nature — she is a vicious beast.

Now that I’m done ranting, I’ll say your baby will be 7lbs 3oz. and 21″ long. I’ll be here soothing myself with some Ding Dongs waiting for the big news.

8 lb 1 oz 21″ long Congratulations.

I guessssss 7lbs 10oz. 19″ You look amazing!

Prayers for an uneventiful labor that lands a beautiful baby boy in your arms!

(((big hugs))) thanks for including us!

I am guessing 7lbs 6 oz & hope that precious baby just slips into this world with little or no pain :)

I am not wishing this on your small framed body, but I say 8lbs 14oz. Well, you said guess. Praying for something to happen fast & SMOOOOOOOTH!

Blessings.

I am delurking to guess 7 lbs. 12 0z. Of all my boys this was the easiest weight to deliver and I am hoping things happen soon and easily for you.

8 lbs 3 oz

C’mon out, baby!

Mmm! 8lbs 12oz …just coz that’s what my last one was!

I’ll say 7 lbs 15 ounces, with a little over to put baby on the very verge of 8 pounds. That was the case with my #3, but we did induce by breaking the water 9 days early.

But then again, you are a full 40 weeks, so baby may go to 8lbs 2oz, as were my next 3, but that guess has been taken by several others. :) I’d hate to duplicate.

I’m pretty small and people found it difficult to believe that I was “so far along” let alone have decent size babes. My last baby (12/07) closed in on 9 pounds, just an ounce or two away. I don’t remember because, well, I was focused on other things like - him breathing and all that. (He’s absolutely fine now, btw.) It didn’t help that the scale at the ped’s office was off, but they refused to acknowledge it - it helped to throw doubts in my my about his actual birth weight.

Anyway, get birthin’! :) I expect you to see your baby around 3:55 your time!

(I know I’m nobody, but I’ve been keeping up with your posts, lately, and feel as if I know you. ;) If you are curious about my story, just use my email domain for my site address, you can skip all my recent junkier posts by going straight to December 2006.)

Too funny!

I’ll guess 7lbs. 5oz. 20 inches long.

God Bless!!

Came here by way of Shannon’s.

I’m going to guess 7lbs 13oz just cuz.

And out btw if no-one else has mentioned this…..you have an absolutely tiny butt for someone who has birthed 11 children and one on the way!

I am envious - I have only one child and well, mine is way bigger than yours (butt that is).

Congrats and I have enjoyed browsing your blog and getting to know your beautiful family through your posts.

Peace be with you as you bring this precious life into the world. My guess is 8 lb. 1 oz. Blessings!

I’ll guess 7lbs 15oz, since that’s what I weighed when I was born. Sounds good.

I’ll go 8 lbs 4.5 ounces

7lbs 15oz!

7 lbs 12 oz

8 lbs 10 oz

I’ll guess:
7 lbs, 14 ozs.
the weight of my last child

I’m going with 9 lbs even…that’s what my last and biggest was.

I am praying for a healthy baby and mommy!

6 lbs, 15 oz

Mine are about that big when the second line appears on the test. I bet you walk out of the hospital in your regular jeans, too. Grrrrrrr.

God bless…

I’m going to guess 7lb 1oz

Oh my, you look so tiny to me! I cannot believe that was taken only 2 weeks ago. I can only hope to look that great in 6 months when I am 2 weeks from delivery! I am guessing 6lb, 15 oz. Hope it goes quickly and smoothly!

u look amazing! congratulations! 7lb 4 oz is my guess

7lb 14oz!

8lbs 6oz!! Woohoo- I am so excited for you!

Some people say it doesn’t hurt to have your water broken. I think they’re crazy. Apparently they didn’t see the huge crochet needle the doctor stuck up inside them. Perhaps they already had an epidural.

When my doctor went in to break my water, I could feel my body scooting itself up away from the needle that I could feel fishing around inside of me. Oh goodness! I’m glad that’s over with!

Anyhoo, I was going to guess 7 lbs 2 oz. That seems to be taken by several people. I’ll guess 7 lbs 4 oz.
