11:17…YAWN

It is with great regret that I share that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS HAPPENING. Cervix of steel strikes again. Where’s that C4 when you need it?

Actually, I think they’re going to start the liquid equivalent soon. Dr was just in and declared that he would start the pitocin and “wipe that smile off my face.”

He was standing on the other side of the room when he said that.

Otherwise we can’t be sure of what would have happened to the dear man, can we?

I got a little rest and feel pretty good…it’s just so dang QUIET in this hospital! They need to send some kids running up and down the hallways or something so I can feel more at home. Maybe scatter some legos and blocks randomly about for me to trip over.

Ah well, your comments boost my spirits NO END, my friends! It has been so much fun to read your guesses and encouragements. “Slime trail” indeed! It’s very yucky. And squelchy. I am glad not to be a snail (and not for the first time).

I just linked that post again! I wonder how much mileage I’ll get from it before I go Home to Glory?

FIRE IN THE HOLE!

And the pitocin begins.

If you’re just tuning in, please place your bets as far as weight goes, and don’t worry about duplicating! I’ll put any duplicate winners together and draw from that pool if need be.

To be continued…

Hmmm, your belly is very tiny, but I know all too well that doesn’t mean anything…lol.

I’m going to guess 8lbs 3ozs for your young man….

I hope your humor lasts right until the end Jenni. You are in my thoughts :-)

I’m in for 7.2…I have no idea and just decided I liked the look of it!

Good luck and I’ll be praying for you!

At a glance, I’m learning this is your 12th(?!?) — so I’m guessing 8lb 7oz (the weight of my first, and oh by the way, we tried pitocin for TWO days and had a c-section on day three) and hoping for your sake that’s high . . . best wishes to you, baby, and your family!!

Thanks to Shannon for sharing your blog! What a fun time for you. My guess? It’s a boy with several siblings ahead of him……..hmmmmm….I say 9lb3oz. Though, from your picture, you are very small. Pray you haven’t received any of those nasty comments from well meaning people….”My you look like a boat”! because you don’t….very cute.

I’m guessing 8lb 6 oz. Best of luck!

okay, my guess. 8 lbs. 1 oz. and i wish i’d looked that good when i was pregnant with # 3 or even #1 or #2!!

I’ve been reading all your birth stories and glad I popped in today to see what was happening. It’s all systems go I see!

I reckon about 7lb 11oz. You just look so neat.

Good luck, hope the little darling doesn’t keep you waiting too much longer.

surely some legos and lots of hollering from children should do the trick. but ah well. pitocin it is.

Men rarely stand behind their smart-alecky words. Although, if your Dr. read your last post, perhaps he had good reason to say that from across the room. He may not have found the visual image of his being flung across the room by his manhood as amusing as the rest of us did.

Here’s hoping the pitocin gets your body in the mood to have a baby very soon! :)

I say 6 lb 7 ounces, 18 inches long and born at 5:55 pm and a girl.

I hated pitocin, but it did the job that my cervix didn’t seem to want to do.

FYI-during my 2nd pitocin-induced delivery my epidural was so good that I slept (on my left side) through 2 hours of labor …all the way to 9 1/2 cm.! When I woke the nurse told me not to push… hahahahahahaha!

If you’re in the reading mood, my birth stories are in this post:
http://headlessfamily5.blogspot.com/2008/01/birth-stories.html

I take all the blame for your condition. I never win bets and should have known better than to slap a time on my weight guess.

I am so sorry. I promise not to make any more time guesses.

I’ll just sit here quietly in the corner and watch.

8 even…

I’ve been lurking about for some time and have really enjoyed the stories of your children’s births.

Hang in there!

6lbs, 7 ozs is my guess

Praying for you. I remember that pitocin drip well…very very well. (as well as a nurse with long fingernails checking my cervix)

Praying your labor and delivery go flawlessly. My guess is 7 lbs 4oz (19 1/2 inches) I was hoping the baby would be born tomorrow,(My husband’s b-day) but I dare not hope that your L&D lasts that long, so I digress. We’re all cheering you on! “Push ‘em out! Shove ‘em out! Wayyyy out!”

I will guess 7lbs 15 ounces and I’ll say that you’ll have your precious little boy at 7:18 tonight. Good luck and prayers are still heading your way!!

Oooh! I guess a wee one- 6 lb, 14 oz. Just cause the doc is rushing him out.

I say 7 lbs, 6 oz.

And, may I say, thank you for providing this fabulous “entertainment” to get me through my Friday! (I suspect you’re doing it more to help you get through YOUR day, but still… ;) :)

Praying for you and the new kidlet!

Can I guess every time I post? I have a feeling things are going to kick in real soon and baby will be here in a blink!

I would venture to guess 7lbs 7oz 20 inches. As a fellow homebirther, I want to say you are wonderful with your wit and humor! I’ve enjoyed reading your birthstories and hope that this, too, shall pass!

Hmmm, I have some errands to do. I will drop by my kids and their legos and blocks by your hospital in a few minutes. I am ALWAYS willing to do my part in making a woman in delivery feel more like she is at home. ;-)

just fyi - my blogger name is Butterbean because hubby and I think that’s what our girls looked like on early ultrasounds.

My guess? My youngest will be 4 on Wednesday. She was 7 lbs 11 oz. I’ll go with that.

So how dilated are you? You have to be some, since they broke your water. Details, please, you know we want details! And Mr. Pushy, please do what you need to do today, without being forced.

I’m new here and I can’t believe you are blogging while in labor! I’m sure you are not having fun, but it’s fun to read.

I guess 6lbs. 9oz.

I’m going with 8 lbs 4 oz. Mine were 8-14, 9-2, and 10 even. I hope you stay lower than me!

My guess is 7 lbs 7 oz

Good luck!

Hi Jenni! I’m just tuning in now and I’m so excited for you! My guess is 7-14. I’ll be praying for an easy, safe delivery!

Well it’s 1:50 EST, so things should be steaming by now! Praying for your strength and God’s blessings on you.
Niki

I’m guessing 7 lbs, 8 ozs. Patiently waiting for an update.
Tonya

7.5 - thanks for sharing this with us! Praying for you…and the doctor. ;)

My guess is 7 lbs. 3 oz.

Come on Baby!

Woo Hoo!

7-12

Soon, soon, soon. Not soon enough. Maybe now? I think I’m checking in late!

In spite of their wry sarcasm and your imminent pain, your meditations actually induce me (deliberate pun) to wish that I had birthed many more children myself, beyond my five (seems like a mere pittance compared with thine!). ….Sigh! What a sweetness there is in the entry of a new life — it so parallels my own spiritual walk. Whenever God is working something fresh in my heart, it seems like death rather than birth for awhile, as I travel (not unlike that baby) through a dark, constricted place of pressure. Sometimes, in fact, I am quite unwilling to emerge into that new, scary place. God, in His ineffable mercy, introduces pitocin, because He loves me and longs to see me try out the new dwelling place in Him. Jesus bless you, your dear husband, and all your exuberantly alive children, Jenni. I remember you always with great affection and delight! 7 lb. 6 oz. is my guess.
Love,
Chriss Ege

P.S. How come you still look magnificently svelte in spite of the bulbous bump, whereas I resembled a beached whale (or walrus, indeed) when pregnant? Goo goo goo joob.

I’m guessing 6lbs. 4oz.
I am also praying for it to be
safe and quick!

Jenni! I had this great response written up and it wouldn’t post it. Said there was an error and that I was posting too fast and to slow down!!

my guess is 7lb 3oz

hugs,
Emmie

TIM says “6.2 pounds. I don’t do this *ounces* stuff”.

he’s been at work for 20 hours. please excuse his weirdness.

Oh, and I don’t know if I’d go so far as to guess this, but wouldn’t it be lovely if the babe was 19 inches? :-P

Hurry up already, Xavier!!!

I guessing 9 lbs even.

And my daughter wants to “help me” type:
tuikbyxsydbbg’sbbshbmsh

I’ve never read a birth “live-blogged” before! I am praying for you.

I am due in about 3 1/2 weeks and am a tiny bit jealous you are delivering today. :)

You look *small* to me, so I’m going with 7 pounds, 1.5 ounces.

I’ll be checking in and praying for you these next few hours!

I think the idea of live-blogging a birth is so neat–thanks for doing it! I look forward to reading. I just found out about your blog from Shannon’s, and I’m so glad I did!!

I’m guessing 7 lbs., 4 oz.

And I’m praying for ya. :)

Cindy

Cool idea.
I’m gonna guess 8 lbs 4 oz, but I hope it feels like 4 lbs 8 oz. :)

I’ve got to guess, hmmmm, maybe 8 lbs 7 oz. Now you know we are all watching and waiting for the end result and will be addicted to checking your blog all day!!!!! AGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Hello, I came over from Shannon’s blog and have been reading your posts a little at a time today. I’m enjoying them!

My guess is 7.1 because that’s what my boy weighed.

Eden is guessing for a 7 lb. 8oz baby. I’m praying for a quick delivery and a healthy addition to your brood. Ask Dr. Rumph if he remembers delivering Eden 8 years ago and asking the nurses to come look at the super job he did with her belly button. He probably doesn’t remember, but I thought it was amusing.

Hoping that no post for a couple of hours means things are moving along at a goodly pace!

Found you via Shannon @ Rocks In My Dryer

Thinking of you and hoping the pitocin works it’s magic and bebe boy comes sooner rather than later.

My guess: 7 lbs 3 oz — it was my birth weight

7 lbs 5 oz

Praying for your family, can’t wait to see the cute little guy in the very near future.

Lorie

My guess is 8 lbs. 3 oz. That’s how big my baby girl was 2 weeks ago when she was born.
